Our cell phone apps have become an essential part of our everyday lives. They assist us with minute and monumental tasks alike. In this article, we’re going to highlight 5 of our favorite apps for gardeners and some of their key features.

# 1 Planta: Keep your plants alive
The goal of Planta is to keep your plants alive. This app helps you figure out which plants are suitable for your home based on the light conditions of the different room. It also provides step-by-step care instructions on how to care for plants. The best feature of this app is the care reminders it provides for watering, fertilizing, misting, cleaning, and re-potting plants.

# 2 Gardenize - garden & plant app
Gardenize helps you save and remember information about your garden. You can add pictures and information about different plants, areas, and events. Gardenize is also transforming into a social networking app. You can connect with gardeners from all over the world and update your profile and posts.

# 3 From Seed to Spoon Gardening
This app makes growing your own food more manageable by providing growing guides for over a 100 Fruits, Herbs, and Vegetables! On this app, plants can be filtered by their health benefits and planting dates can be customized by where you live. They also help you avoid key mistakes through providing good & bad planting companion lists. Lastly, this app has videos and classes that are all about growing and cooking food.

# 4 MyGarden: Inspiration to Grow
Apple app

Android app
MyGarden surveys your interests in plants and planting and provides plant projects for you to complete. In addition to the plant projects, the app tells you what you’ll need and the corresponding prices for material
  • The Plant Projects that the app recommends completely revolve around your interests. For example, I selected “Indoorsy Plants” as it’s currently winter and I would like to expand my gardening to my home. Some of the plant recommendations I was given included:
    • Dwarf Snake Plant
    • Peace Lily
    • Indoor Succulents
    • Terrarium

# 5 Biodynamic Gardening Calendar
Apple app
Android app

As a disclaimer, this app has a 30-Day Free Trial and after that, membership is $5.99. The information within the app is based on the research of biodynamic pioneer Maria Thun. This app allows gardeners to correlate what they’re growing to the best times to do so. For any given day, the app will show you fruit, flower, leaf, or root times (both favorable and unfavorable). The best feature is that the calendar can filter time type, activity, or both based on your interests!
